He urged me to focus on anything that interests me, encouraging me to keep a distance from the job he considered unfit but necessary. My father viewed our liquor store business as a disgrace to both our culture and religion. This hatred only pushed him to further attempt to inspire me, to make me change course and not get stuck into the frowned upon line of work. However, to my father’s dismay, I grew obsessed with the idea of choosing items that were in demand and selling them at higher rates, slowly but surely accumulating profit. According to the Wall Street prep website, everyone used to look up to JP Morgan, the National City Bank, because they were the leaders of the game. JP Morgan was making a great amount of money, so great that he personally saved the coun try during the calamitous panic in 1907. Banks began to use their federal loans in order to push the stock market forward and make more money, and on black Tuesday of October 29 the stock market crashed which was one of the causes of the Great Depression. Furthermore, Wall Street prep also explains that During the Great Depression, the nation’s banking system was in confusion, nobody knew what was going to happen next, with 40% of banks failing. The Glass-Steagall Act was done by the government with hopes of bringing all of the banks back to life by creating a wall between commercial and investment banking. The separation was made between the banks because it was time to the desire to win in investment banking and the duty to help and provide service for people in regular banks. She gets to her home by the time the wolf is catching up with her (Wetmore, 1902). These variations change the whole focus of the tale because the 17th century version shows that its wise for children and youngsters not to talk to people they do not know. It shows that ‘wolves’ must not only be ‘wolves’ but they could be ‘wolves’ in the skin of ‘sheep’. The ‘wolves’ in sheep’s skin are most dangerous. In the second story, it is evident that children should adhere to the advice of their parents. Parents have lived longer and thus more life experience. When a parent advices a child on a certain course of action, the child should adhere to that and not go against the advice. The last story shows that children should be wise enough to discern evil and wrong and run from it. They should be taught life lessons so that when they encounter such scenarios, they will be able to discern them as wrong and abstain from getting into them (Wetmore, 1902). Conclusion Finally, these three stories are important life lesson because they all have individual lessons to teach to us. Within the society of Cattle, there is impenitent discrimination based on the assumption that genetic manipulation improves an individual. The opening scene begins with the amplified sound of fingernails falling to the floor with the use of extreme close-ups of genetic material, emphasizing the importance of genes in the society. Any child born without genetic engineering are seen as inferior and prejudice is displayed to them through their limited career paths and how they are treated by the upper society. The themes of superiority as opposed to inferiority are used forewarn humanity that people can oppress capable individuals and discriminate against them for their individuality and differences. Similarly, discrimination and prejudice is particularly evident in Lord of the flies which is shown by how the â€Å"littlest† are treated. The littlest don’t even merit names and are treated as inferior rudeness which is utilized when Jack states, â€Å"l hope the best prefers Littleton. † The symbolism and repeated motifs accentuates to the responders how the younger children are viewed as useless and not looked after as they are of less importance to the older boys. It demonstrates the lack of care and consideration shown towards the little children along. The older children hope that their own safety can be exchanged for that of the littlest. It is a symbol of their disregard for the younger children and the intolerance shown towards them. As the book progresses, the boys become less and less unconcerned about overlooking the ‘littlest’ and as their interest in looking after each other as a community deteriorates, the weaker they become and more susceptible to savagery as they begin to lose their humanity. This serves as a warning to mankind as humans overlook people of perceived less importance and tend to focus on themselves. Even Piggy who represents the rational, intellectual aspect of society and who offered the most helpful advice was discriminated against by the boys and was disregarded and shunned because of his appearances and differences. These are warnings that in society people are quick to discriminate anyone different to the mainstream, even though they may be of greater importance then initially realized. Cattle and Lord of the Flies both act as warnings to mankind which is exemplified through the theme of identity. The opening scene in Cattle emphasizes the restrictions on society expectations as shadows create a bar like pattern on Vincent body as he scrubs his body of excess DNA material. Such concern for ones own national interest is realistic and responsible on a political leader.   However, more skeptical voices have suggested that Lend-Lease served United States needs in more aggressive and less altruistic ways.   Dobson (1986 and 1995) has argued that the terms of the Lend-Lease agreement deliberately imposed painful conditions on the post-war UK economy, forcing Britain to accept radical changes in her trading practices and tying her to the preferred policy of the United States.   The terms under which Lend-Lease was granted not only weakened Britains general economic position, they also diminished the likelihood of Britain being able to carry out the commitment to freer trade she had given to the State Department (Dobson, 1986, 11).   Elsewhere Dobson describes United States actions as an offensive intrusion into UK economic sovereignty (Dobson, 1995, 85), and claims that there was a deliberate policy to keep Britain vulnerable, and to remove her as an economic competitor in the post-war world.   It certainly seemed like this to Sayers, writing in 1956, when austerity was only just beginning to recede in the UK.   After the Lend-Lease plan was enacted at least Britain’s poverty was never again so absolute.   It became instead the poverty of the poor relation:   this was already brought home to British negotiators before the bill was through Congress and for all the generosity of that most unsordid act in history, the British never escaped from that position.
